Wholesome Wave was founded on a simple principle: everyone, irrespective of their socioeconomic status, deserves access to healthy food. This fundamental belief has driven us to the forefront of the nutrition equity movement, striving to make fruits and vegetables both affordable and accessible to all. Our year-end report encapsulates our successful endeavors in 2023 and shines a light on our 2024 goals.

Highlights include:

Innovative Nutrition Solutions. Our initiatives, particularly the increasing national adoption of PRx, represent a groundbreaking approach to healthcare. By embedding PRx in government-sponsored healthcare, elevating programmatic outcomes, and enhancing clinical standards, we're ensuring that nutritious foods are available to community members throughout the US.

Expansive Impact Tours. Our commitment has taken us across the country, from farmers markets to policy hearings, illustrating our dedication to the FAM movement. Notable ventures include the James Beard Foundation Boot Camp for Policy and Change and collaborations with GusNIP produce prescription program grantees, an impact tour through Texas and much more.

Advocacy and Influence. Our influence on Capitol Hill was strong in 2023, advocating for crucial policy decisions that support nutrition equity. From organizing events to engaging with lawmakers, our continued efforts are pivotal in shaping legislation like the farm bill and the Crawford-Kildee legislation to increase access to healthy food.

Stewardship of the NPPC. As stewards of the National Produce Prescription Collaborative (NPPC), we've made significant strides in policy advocacy and expanding our membership. Our plans for 2024 focus on furthering PRx adoption and growing membership to further strengthen the collaborative.

The FED Principle® in Action. 2023 saw the launch of innovative programs under the FED Principle®, aimed at delivering community-led, co-designed nutritional solutions using fidelity, equity and dignity. Our partnership with the Hispanic Health Council and Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center enabled us to co-create the Food4Moms pilot, using the FED Principle.

A Healthier 2024 and Beyond. As we look to the future, our vision for a world where everyone has access to nutritious food is more vivid than ever. With your support, we will continue developing innovative solutions to drive and accelerate lasting change community-by-community across America.
