Wholesome Wave Outlines Pathway for Embedding PRx Programs into Healthcare

July 15th, 2022 - Washington, DC - Today, Wholesome Wave, alongside their partners at the National Produce Prescription Collaborative (NPPC), sent a letter to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health outlining a policy pathway for embedding fruit and vegetable prescription programs into healthcare:

"The upcoming White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health present a rare opportunity for common-sense, cross-agency governmental action on a solvable National problem rooted in numerous causes. Now is the time for innovation and transformation. We believe the White House's commitment to hold a conference will result in proposals that can positively reshape healthcare in America in the weeks, months, and years to come. Wholesome Wave believes that embedding fruit and vegetable prescriptions into standard healthcare practice is one of the most humane and economically sensible policy opportunities to effectively address the White House's second pillar for the conference: "the integration of nutrition and health," said Michel Nischan, Co-Founder and Chairman at Wholesome Wave.

"We are thrilled to have gathered a strong and experienced community of experts at the National Produce Prescription Collaborative, a coalition we convened in 2019. Our members have laid out a bold, sensible, evidence-based path for the Administration to leverage the benefits of food as medicine truly. I am deeply grateful for our colleagues who crafted this timely and relevant comment, and thank the White House and leaders in Congress for making this important event a reality."
