Project Coordinator Position
Westport, CT based non-profit organization seeking Project Coordinator for management of local Farm to Community and Health Outreach Programming.
Duties
- Develop, coordinate and implement farm to community projects and health outreach programs focused on providing historically excluded communities with affordable access to fresh produce, including through use of incentive programs and development of neighborhood farm stands and farmers market initiatives.
- Maintain and develop relationships with community partners, organizations and agencies, and producers.
- Facilitate promotion and marketing of initiatives through the development of marketing materials and working relationships with organizations, agencies and community groups.
- Create methods for data logging.
- Oversee field staff
- Be involved in securing program funding through seeking opportunities and developing proposals.
- Oversee project budget.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor Degree
- Evidence of long-standing commitment to sustainable food and agriculture issues
- Previous volunteer or for-hire work for (preferably) farmers market/farm stand programs or other food and society based initiatives.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Self-directed, ability to take initiative, anticipate actions needed and work productively with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in either a non-profit organization focused on local food initiatives, or commercial work in food and nutrition
- Management or assistant management experience
- Excellent writing, proofreading, editing skills
- Demonstrated skills with computer word processing (Microsoft Word) and financial based spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel or Lotus 123)
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects
- Demonstrated ability to work with a positive attitude as an effective and collaborative team member
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Experience in writing grant proposals
Budgeting experience
Experience with graphics-based computer programs
Working knowledge of Spanish language, both written and oral
Compensation
$28,000 to $32,000 with benefits
